Heritage Gold also has an extensive tenement holding along the eastern side of the Martha open pit mine and Favona underground mine.
The Golden Valley permit forms a broad strip of land immediately adjacent to Newmont's Waihi operations. It includes several structures that appear to be analogous to those on Newmont's land holdings.
Golden Valley covers 50 square kilometres east of the Martha and Favona mines, extending for about 17 kilometres north-south. Geological mapping, geochemical sampling, airborne and ground magnetic surveys have indicated several hydrothermal alteration zones.
Anomalies found by previous low detection limit geochemical surveys indicate the presence of gold and good correlation with previous geophysical surveys.
Recent soil geochemical and seismic surveys in 2010 will define drilling targets for 2011.
